On a particularly problematic bend on the Magoebaskloof pass, Deltabloc’s DB100S-F barrier was employed to give a H4b barrier with limited working width.

The DB100S-F is pinned into the shoulder of the road using 1m long IPE sections, which arrest the movment of the barriers in conjunction with the patented Deltabloc tension beam. So not only is sideways movement severely restricted, but as the system works as a whole, there is very little that will break through this.

The pins are “knocked in” to the shoulder using a hydraulic hammer on either a small excavator or a TLB.
