On a particularly problematic bend on the Magoebaskloof Pass, the DELTABLOC®️ DB 100S-F barrier was employed to give a H4b barrier with limited working width.

The DB 100S-F is pinned into the shoulder of the road using 1m long IPE sections, which arrest the movement of the barriers in conjunction with the patented DELTABLOC®️ tension beam. So not only is sideways movement severely restricted, but as the system works as a whole, there is very little that will break through this.

The pins are “knocked in” to the shoulder using a hydraulic hammer on either a small excavator or a TLB.
